Another one of our guiding principles is the concept of Dual Power, but what is Dual Power?
When a capitalist society enters a period of crisis, the working class begins to suffer and become increasingly desperate over time. This causes governing institutions to lose legitimacy in the eyes of the public.
However, the ruling class regenerates their legitimacy by providing the bare minimum to the desperate masses. Gradually over time, this cycle repeats itself, allowing the ruling class to offer less supports to the people. One example of this would be increases to minimum wages that still fail to meet livable wages. People appreciate the wage increases because they need them desperately, and become less agitated about the fact that they still do not make a living wage.
We know that people must have food, shelter, education and medical care. If the ruling class provides these needs somewhat, then the desperate masses will concede that the system works, even though it might not be perfect. This leads to wider wealth inequality gaps, siphoning more money and resources away from the working class and into the pockets of the ruling class.
This is where the concept of Dual Power comes in. Dual Power institutions are organized with the intent of solving these problems, and leveraging strengthened communities who are no longer desperate against the cycle of minimal state facilitated support.
It must be stressed that these institutions are not in any way resembling charities ran by opportunistic elites, which also serve to ease discontent. Dual Power institutions exist to empower people to genuinely escape their desperation rather than being confined by it, thus allowing them to fight back against corruption of the state & ruling class. For example: Community-owned communal gardens will mitigate food shortages, but also will be used to feed striking workers. This empowers them to challenge their work places for livable wages, so that they no longer experience food shortages at all.
We the people must organize to establish Dual Power institutions, as we are currently establishing through SEMAF, to adequately meets our needs and break the chains of working class.
